NetBIOS Names

Every networked Windows-based computer must have a unique computer name, even if the computers are split among multiple domains. Workgroup and domain names are also NetBIOS names, so they must also be unique. Your computer name cannot be the same as your domain name. A NetBIOS name can be up to 15 charactors long and can be any combination of alphanumerics and some symbols. NetBIOS names are not case-sensitive; letters are always converted to uppercase.
